A poem shaped by Salford
We visited groups and communities across the city, speaking with people of different ages, backgrounds and experiences. We talked about the Salford they remember, the Salford they know today and the Salford they hope future generations will inherit.
People shared memories of terraced streets, industry, music, parks, neighbours, family, struggle, humour and change. They spoke about the places that matter to them and the character that makes this city unlike anywhere else.
Those conversations became Our Salford—a new centenary poem created with Salford people, for Salford people.

The finished film will bring Our Salford to life through the words, places and spirit of the city. It will celebrate the people who shared their experiences with us and the many voices that came together to create the poem.
We are putting the final touches to the film and will share it here as soon as it is ready.

Rather than deciding Salford’s story for people, we asked local communities to tell us what the city means to them.

One city. One hundred years. A century of stories.
In 2026, Salford celebrated 100 years as a city. We wanted to mark that milestone in the most fitting way we could: by listening to the people who make Salford what it is.
