Support that starts with you

Find your way forward

Life does not always follow a straight path. You may know where you want to get to, feel unsure where to begin, or have had support that did not feel right for you. At The Broughton Trust, you will have someone who listens, takes you seriously and works alongside you to turn what matters to you into manageable next steps.

Someone in your corner

Your mentor will not decide your future for you or pull you along a route that does not fit. They will walk alongside you—helping you understand your choices, work through barriers and recognise the progress you are making. As your confidence and independence grow, the support steps back.

Start with what matters to you
Break things into achievable steps
Keep moving at a pace that works

Practical help. Personal support.

There is no fixed programme or single route. We shape the support around your goals, strengths and circumstances. That could include:

Get ready

Help with ID, bank accounts, National Insurance information, digital access, travel, interview clothing or the other practical things that can otherwise hold you back.

Build confidence and skills

One-to-one mentoring, careers guidance, training and qualifications, with support to re-engage after difficult experiences of education or other services.

Find opportunities

CVs, applications, job searching, interview preparation and introductions to employers and training providers across different sectors.

Settle into work

Support with first days, workplace routines, communication and early problems—plus someone familiar to speak to while you find your feet.

Interested in construction?

Construction is one of our strongest pathways. Depending on what you need, we can help with:

  • English and maths support
  • Level 1 Health & Safety in Construction
  • CITB test preparation and revision
  • Arranging your test and CSCS card
  • Work boots, PPE and travel where available
  • Connections with employers and job opportunities

More than getting the job

Starting work can bring a new set of challenges. We can stay alongside you during those important first weeks, help you understand workplace expectations and work through small problems before they become bigger ones.

Where appropriate, your mentor can also help you and your employer understand each other. The aim is not to create dependence—it is to give you a trusted safety net while you become established and confident.

Experience you can trust

We have worked alongside young people across Salford for many years—in youth clubs, schools, alternative education, colleges, community settings and workplaces. Programmes including Talent Match, Hidden Talent and Future You have helped us build particular expertise in engaging young adults aged 18–24 who may have lost trust in mainstream support.

Our staff bring professional knowledge, local understanding and lived experience. We also understand the additional barriers that can come with an offending history and can support conversations about disclosure, employer confidence and moving forward.

Your next step can be a conversation

You do not have to work everything out alone. Talk to us about where you are now and where you would like to get to. We will listen, be honest about how we can help and take the next step with you.
