The Broughton & Blackfriars Play Development Project

Play Development LogoThe Trust took on responsibility for the project in 2001.

Aims:

  • To build up a network of groups of people who are working, or wish to work, with children within the Broughton & Blackfriars areas
  • To enable the members to share skills, experiences, knowledge and resources and provide a co-ordinated approach to play and community events, so increasing community spirit in the area
  • To identify gaps in provision for children and parents, support and encourage new volunteers and identify training needs

 

Activities and Areas of Work that have been provided by the Project

  • Holiday activities throughout the area, including employing play workers for the summer holiday.
  • We also organise special events like the Albert Park Fun Day & August Festival annually (over 1200-1500 people attend)
  • Support of the Broughton and Blackfriars Play Development Network
  • Bring in the Broughton Pantomime, each Christmas for Broughton children
  • We organise quarterly meetings of the Play Development Network, to link activities in the area
  • Set up and run the Toy Library
