Development and Inclusion Work

My role is to support groups in the community by providing advice and information to them. This includes information on:

  • how to get started
  • how to plan future work and record success.
  • where to get money for activities
  • who else you can work with
  • recruiting new members/volunteers
  • relevant training.
  • new development opportunities.

Some of the groups we have helped include a community football team; Salsa dance class; community play and family projects; a women’s group; and as a range of residents and other community led agencies.

We also need to work in partnership with people in other organisations so that we can provide maximum benefits to local residents. In recent months we have worked alongside the Primary care Trust in Salford to bring funding into an innovative project run by a local group.

Similarly, we are building on good relationships with local developers and social housing providers to deliver joint projects that benefit local people, e.g. community based sports and other positive opportunities for young people and children.

Community arts workshops were held at GRUMPY that used local people’s experiences of Broughton to kick off a local history project.

Events for older people have been delivered in partnership with colleagues in the City Council’s resource centre. Tea dances have proved to be a great success, and one of the spin offs will be a series of local stories in a primary school delivered by older people.

So, if you have an idea for a new project, or want to talk through a problem, or issue, please call the office.
