Trust Assistant

The targets for the work include supporting the various projects of The Broughton Trust, such as Play Development, and Training, looking to establish the long term sustainability of the Trust, and premises.

The tasks involved include:

  • Line managing all staff and line managing the projects
  • Running the Payroll Calculation Service
  • Producing and circulating the Newsletter
  • Producing the Annual Report/ Accounts and Annual Review documents
  • Arranging events and activities, e.g. an International Women’s Day event; funding advice surgeries
  • Advising community groups, on issues such as constitutions, policies and procedures, applying for funding
  • Liaison with local, citywide, regional and national networks

We aim to develop or support new job opportunities for local residents. We do this by working with others, and by running a series of short-term projects giving people training, experience, and skills. Several people have done this, and during 2003-04 a total of 32 people were employed by the Trust on various pieces of work.

We also want to start trading some of the skills in the Trust, to earn an income to help the Trust be independent and around for as long as it is needed. This is beginning with services like the pay calculation service, and the mentoring programme.

Development Work

The aims of the work involve encouraging people to become involved in their community, and local networks.

Their work includes work with community groups, and tenants and residents associations.

The work also includes meeting and working with individuals who may become interested in being involved in their community, or setting up a new venture –

  • The Broughton Action Group
  • The Street Pride initiative
  • Encouraging volunteers to become involved in the Trust or other local project
