The Broughton Trust I Wish for Some Wings ProjectWe work with individuals and groups, with the aim to ‘to help make Broughton a better place to live and work.’

The Broughton Trust was launched in summer 2000, and has grown rapidly since, with nearly 80 people and groups signed up as Members.

Although the Trust is still a fairly new organisation there have been significant achievements, and we now run and support a wide range of projects and groups in Broughton. We plan projects to work with each other and to link with work in other organisations active in the area. We also try to use the experience and information we gain from our work to positively influence developments affecting the community.

Main Activities

The main activities of The Broughton Trust include:

  • Central Activities: providing advice and support for developing community groups and community enterprises which could lead to employment opportunities; working with residents and others on housing renewal and regeneration issues.
  • Play Development: working in the community to provide activities for children, young people and families.
  • Learning in Broughton: facilitates, organises and supports local courses for local people. Most courses are free.
  • The Broughton Friends: providing an information and help service for families with a child under 4 years.
  • Childminding Support: working with childminders in the area.
  • Partnership work with SureStart and The University of Salford: improving the future for Broughton’s under 4s and their families.

The Broughton Trust is a community led development trust, and a member of the Development Trusts Association.
